Furx – Alpwegkopf (1437m) – Männle (1501m) – Nob (1785m) – Furx
Amazing ridge walk above the Laterns valley
This walk in Vorarlberg, western Austria has only 700 height meters are to be conquered but the views are incredible for almost all of the walk! Plus it´s short enough to fit into half a day if needed.
This is a circular hike starting from Furx in Vorarlberg (western Austria).
This wonderful ridge walk starts at Furx and even the drive up to the hikes starting point offers lovely views of the Rhein valley. At the start we have to tackle a short, steep passage through the woods. However, very soon we arrive on the the ridge. Now fantastic views open before us that make us forget all about the steep uphill.
Soon we reach the Alpwegkopf hut which we pass on the way up and down. It offers a great place for a break and some refreshments.
The walk continues for quite a while along the ridge until finally we reach an inviting bench under a hiking sign. This is a good place to rest and enjoy the views.
From here we continue without a path over the grassy slopes all the way past the top gondola station to the cross on the top of Nob. The top of Nob is not spectacular but it offers a 360° panorama of the surrounding mountains.
We take our time enjoying the views before we make our way down one of the slopes. In the winter this is a lovely little area for skiing. At the bottom of the slope we reach a mountain road which leads back to the Allpwegkopf ridge.
We pass the Alpwegkopf hut again on the way back and make use of it for some cake and drinks. From here we take a different way down, back to Furx.
