This hike features a ridge with lovely views, a chapel, the Eibele waterfall, a choice of two cafes and a cute little cheese shop at the end. So you really can’t go wrong with this walk.
Start in the little village of Sulzberg where there is plenty of parking on either side of the village. Walk past the church and then along the paved road towards Lindengschwend on the other side of Sulzberg. Here the path leads along a wide ridge on a gently sloped paved path with stunning views of the alps.
The path leads past the Hochsträss Stüble, a little restaurant on the ridge and further meanders through some farmhouses towards Lindengschwend. Soon after Lindengschwend turn right into a small path that now leads downhill on a steep hiking path. First through the woods and then across a meadow you will soon reach Glafberg, a small collection of farmhouses.
Pass through the farmhouses and continue along another small, paved path. Soon you will see Halden chapel across the field, which makes for a great view in front of the hills.
Past the chapel the path will soon turn off the paved path and lead steep downhill through a field. Keep walking straight downhill and you will soon arrive at a small gate in the fence at the bottom of the field.
Now the path continues along a paved road again, past some more farmhouses and soon you will arrive at Eibele. The waterfall can already be heard. Turn left off the path into Eibele and soon you will reach a small bridge which leads into Germany.
Do not cross the bridge but turn left beforehand. After just a few meters you will arrive at this lovely little waterfall. There are some rocks to sit on and the clear water invites to taking the shoes of and wading in.
Once you have had your break at the waterfall, return to the path out of Eibele, which will soon lead to a road. Turn right on the road and soon a path will turn off to the right leading gently uphill.
Turning around you will have a nice view of the village and its small lake.
The path now leads through woods and meets the road again on the other side. Follow the road uphill until reaching a small chapel where you turn off the road onto a path on the right.
It is now further uphill across a meadow and through the woods. On the way there are always views of the Alps ahead.
The path now keeps leading gently uphill, sometimes along the road and sometimes cutting off road turns along a hiking path. Soon you will be back in Sulzberg, where the hike ends by the small well in the middle of the village.
There is a cafe to the left and one to the right of the well and a cheese shop opposite. Or you could just have a seat at one of the benches and enjoy the stunning view of the mountains.
