Lindau – Wasserburg – Lindau
A lake and park walk from Lindau
A beautiful walk along Lake Constance from Lindau to Wasserburg in southern Germany. It leads through old Villas, through parks, past fruit plantations and of course along the lake. There are lovely places to rest along the way and of course Lindau island at the end for an ice cream stop.

Grey clouds had been stuck over the mountains for days so we were on a search for some sunshine. And we found it on the north side of lake Constance.
This walk is lovely in any season but on a sunny autumn or winter day it is probably most enjoyable. During the summer season walkers and cyclists may make this a crowded path.
We start in Lindau just by the bridge to the island. The walk starts beautifully along the water. Soon we cross the train line which leads onto the island and continue along the waterfront. Unfortunately we cannot stay by the water for the entire walk as some lake properties are privately owned. However, walking through the beautiful villas on this side of Lindau makes up for it. This part also offers some beautiful sights.
After a while we reach the Strandbad Bad Schachen where we get back to the water. And soon we reach Lindenhofpark. This park is beautiful with lots of tall trees, the oldest of which is supposed to be older than 160 years.
There are plenty of benches by the water which gives a great opportunity for a break and to enjoy the view across the water to the mountains on the other side. At the end of the park there is a little café to stop at for a cool drink if needed.
On we walk. After the park we get away from the water again, pass a few more houses and the extensive fruit tree plantation. From here it is only a short stroll into Wasserburg. We pass through the little town until we reach it´s peninsula and walk to it´s cute little harbour near the church. This is again a lovely place for a break, a look across the water and possibly and ice cream.
For the way back we follow the sign towards Einzisweiler, through more tree plantations. When we reach a crossroad we turn right and pass the Bichelweiher and then turn left towards Schachen. We pass some more beautiful houses on our way into Bad Schachen and then back towards Lindau island.
Since the island is always worth a visit, we use the path across the train bridge to get onto the island.
We stroll through the beautiful old houses, along the waterfront and peek into the cute little shops. There is always an opportunity for ice cream here, don’t miss it!
