There are views across Lake Constance to Germany, a vast expanse of the Vorarlberg Alps in Austria, most of little Liechtenstein and of course Switzerland. A lovely way to spend a couple of hours!

This lovely hike above Lake Constance is called Rondomweg. Rondom is Swiss for “Rund um”, which is German for “round and about”. It’s basically a round walk. There are several variations of Rondomweg – this is the longest at 6.5km.
The hike starts in Hasenwinkel, just outside of Oberregg in Appenzellerland, north-east Switzerland. From here walk uphill through the woods towards Rütegg. The path leads along a small ridge and there are lovely views of Lake Constance from her. Soon you will arrive at Rütegg hut, where you turn left.
The path now leads along a quiet mountain road, gently uphill, all the way to St. Anton. It really is beautiful up here with great views of Alpstein and Saentis. The spring flowers and springing and the crocus are – well… crocussed.
Arriving at St Anton, there are plenty of perfectly placed benches. Spend a relaxing break here, enjoying views left right and center. To the left (north) are the southern German Alps, to the center is Vorarlberg and the Austrian Alps (including great views to the hikes up to Nob and Hohe Kugel). Not to be outdone, to the right, is little Liechtenstein with its own set of Alps. And of course the Swiss Alps are all around! Marvelous!
At St Anton turn left and wander along the road that is leading along the top ridge. There are stunning views across the Rhine valley on one side and towards Lake Contance on the other.
At Oberer Bürki, the path turns left and then ascends slowly across some beautiful meadows. Soon you will make your way back into Oberegg.
