Klus – Torfnest – Lachen – Augsti – Klus

This short, easy walk around Lachen is perfect for stretching your legs when you don’t want a long walk but would still like to enjoy some amazing views. It features walking along streams, through flower filled fields and past views of Lake Constance. And all can be enjoyed within just a couple hours of walking.

Best start the hike in Klus, a tiny cluster of houses, where in the bend of the road you will find easy parking. Make your way up through the woods to Schönenbühl. The path leads along a wonderful shady stream, very pleasant, especially on a hot summers day.

In Schönenbühl, turn right along the road and left again at the junction, past the pub and immediately after, turn right up a step track leading into the woods. It’s a short, steep uphill and soon you will come out in a flower filled field on the top. Walk past the farmhouse and along the track on the other side, then turn left at the next junction. Now it’s an easy downhill through the woods.

Follow the path until it crosses a small road. On the other side, there is another short, steep uphill, then through a few houses. Now you are on a wonderful panoramic path that offers some wonderful views of Lake Constance. There is even a perfectly placed bench to enjoy the views from. Follow this path, which leads very gently through fields and past farm houses and farm shop.

Eventually you will find yourself above Lachen, a small village with a wonderful view of the lake. Make your way down into the village and back out on the other side. There is now a rather steep uphill to conquer, but it’s not long and on the top there is another perfectly placed bench with a view.

From the top, the path takes you down through fields again, until you reach a quiet road.

On the quiet road below, turn left and make your way through the houses. You will come to a junction, where the path leads left and slightly uphill through the village of Augusti. Follow it around and it will lead you back to the start of the walk in Klus.
