This hike is best started by either leaving your car in Ftan and then take the ever reliable Postbus to Vna – or travel with public transport to Vna. Once in Vna we headed along the simply beautiful Val Sinestra.

At Griosch we passed the Garten-Bergwirtschaft which is lovely place to stop for a drink. We then continued further into Val Chöglias.

What a stunning area this is! We then swung left heading towards the Fimbapass. Once we reached the pass we got our first sight of Fluchthorn.

It was then downhill all the way into Val Fanga to the Heidelbergerhuette – we reached this after about 5 hours from Vna.

When you leave the the hut, head in a southerly direction towards Fuorcla da Tasna.

Now watch out! Look carefully for the path to the Fuorcla da Tasna. The path is actually no longer maintained and there are only one or 2 old signposts on the ground and some very faded red and white painted marks. You will find the path but keep your eyes open!

While successfully navigating we passed quite a few, very pretty small lakes on both side of the pass.

And now we came to the slightly tricky part of the hike. This is a steepish downhill section over grass and loose rocks – it was tricky even when dry, so don’t try it when wet!

In the picture above, the path is to the right of the stream from this angle and then crosses to the left half way down. Take care!

And then we were treated to one of the most beautiful and picturesque valleys we have seen in the alps.

After marvelling at this beautiful area we finally left the valley we swung left into Val Tasna – another beautiful sight. Wow!

It was then another one and a half hours to Ftan – once again amazing views…

Garten-Bergwirtschaft Griosch

Garten-Bergwirtschaft Griosch

(Food only)

You will be greeted in Griosch with spaghetti and pesto sauce from fresh herbs, an Engadine sausage from your own Wollsau or other, what the season offers. A friendly smile is definitely one of them. With reservation one can start the "return journey" to Vnà with one of the house-own Trottinetts.

Heidelbergerhütte
