We took the brilliant Swiss postbus from Scuol to Val Sinestra. Note – this bus operates only 3 times per day so make sure catch the early bus at 08:09 from Scuol to complete this hike in daylight. Or you could stay in the impressive Hotel Val Sinestra at the start of the hike.

Getting out in Val Sinestra we decided to head down into the valley, cross the river…

and walk on the eastern side of the valley. This makes the hike a little longer but the views are much better from this side. We had a fantastic sight above Zuort into Val Laver – the valley we would soon hike up.

We walked as far as Griosch before crossing the river again above Zuort…

and headed into Val Laver. The colours in autumn are truly stunning – but also, do turn around to look from where you came – equally stunning!

As we headed further up the valley, the trees of course disappear but the landscape is still fascinating.

At the pass, we got our first glimpse into the other side of the pass.

Once crossing the pass, do again look behind – the colours of the mountains are quite spectacular.

There were now plenty of options to head downhill. You can walk to Scuol – but we it was so pretty chose to extend the hike a little in the direction of Ftan. There are a few chairlifts to ignore, but the views are so great it’s not difficult.

It was then an easy stroll through the meadows enjoying the mountains around the village of Ftan.

Overall, a wonderful hike, especially in autumn. Go enjoy!

(Food only)

You will be greeted in Griosch with spaghetti and pesto sauce from fresh herbs, an Engadine sausage from your own Wollsau or other, what the season offers. A friendly smile is definitely one of them. With reservation one can start the "return journey" to Vnà with one of the house-own Trottinetts.

We could not find any webcams in the area close to this hike.
