Malans – Fadärastein (1178m) – Seewis – Grüsch
3 Graubünden villages, alpine meadows and views over the Rhine valley
This is a wonderfully pretty 5 to 6 hour wander from Malans to Grüsch via the pretty village of Seewis. There are great views of the Rhine valley and then later, a gentle downhill stroll through wonderful alpine meadows and bubbling streams....
This hike starts from Malans and ends at Grüsch (Graubünden, south-east Switzerland).

On a glorious Saturday in June we decided to hike from Malans to Grüsch via Seewis, in Graubünden, south-east Switzerland. And it was a glorious hike to match the glorious day!
Even outside of the village of Malans in the Rhine valley the views across the valley were wonderful!
The village of Malans itself was worth to wander through slowly – very picturesque.
After leaving the village it was a steep climb of 600 height meters, but rewarded with more views across the Rhine valley – now a bird’s eye view.
Finally we could enjoy the panoramic views from the highest point at Fadärastein (1178m) and then we were into the stunning springtime meadows.
It was then a slow and gentle wander through farmland…
…with views of Vilan…
..along bubbling streams…
…until we reached the village of Seewis. Here you can reward yourself with ice-cream!
From Seewis it was then a stroll down towards Grüsch passing the ruin of Solavers.
After 40 minutes we are in Grüsch – also a charming little village. From Grüsch it’s a 15 minute train ride back to Malans on the Rhaetian railway – perfect Saturday!
