Partnun – Drusator – Sulzfluh (2817m) – Gemschtobel – Partnun
Exciting route up to one of the greatest view points of the Rätikon
There are easier ways up to the Sulzfluh, but we thought we would do a round-tour taking a scenic and somewhat exciting route. A truly wonderful hike with simply stunning views!
This is a circular hike starting from Partnun, Saint Antönien in Graubünden (south-east Switzerland).

We parked in P6 between Sankt Antönien and Partnun, crossed the the river and headed towards Alp Garschina. Before going very far, we saw this little chap enjoying the early morning sunshine.
A little further and we could see the Carschina hut and our eventual goal for the day – Sulzfluh.
Shortly after leaving the hut, we headed towards Drusator (2341m) – with Drusenfluh in the distance.
Drusator is the border between Switzerland and Austria – and after passing through Dursator we were enjoying views of the Austrian Alps.
It was then one hour down to the recently enlarged Lindauer Hut – this could be an ideal place to stay overnight if you like to make this a 2 day hike. After a quick and welcome drink at the hut we turned right and headed towards the “serious” part of this hike – the steep scree area known as Im Rachen. Before reaching the scree, there were some beautiful views across to the Drusenfluh.
I have skied down Im Rachen, and it was certainly more fun than fighting uphill with scree! Nevertheless, the views and surrounding are fantastic.
It’s not difficult, but take care and look out for the markings to guide you. Do NOT attempt this route if it is wet or poor visibility.
At around 2400m it was a sharp swing to the left and the final narrow tricky section – hands were needed – take care. And then it was out into the amazing limestone area leading to Sulzfluh – it was around 45 minutes from leaving Im Rachen.
And then we were on the top! And what a view – very much worth the sweat and scrambling over the scree!
After a very well deserved lunch, we headed down again through Gemschtobel – another stunning limestone area. There was one more tricky section, but this time there were chains to help and then it was through the green meadows above the Partnunsee – beautiful.
Even though it is almost the end of the hike, do take time to look back from where you came – simply stunning.
