Älpli – Fläscher Alp – Vorder Grauspitz (2599m) – Fläscher Alp – Älpli

This challenging hike will take you to the highest peak of little Liechtenstein. It’s not a walk in the park, but not too difficult.

We parked in Malans and took the tiny Alpli gondola which whisked us up 1200 height meters. Note – it’s worth to phone ahead and book a ride on the gondola – it only seats 4 people.

After leaving the gondola, we followed a broad track to Pt2031 at Kamm and then downhill to Pt2000. Wonderful views!

We continued downhill to Vorderst See – a lovely little Alpine lake.

We continued further and through the tunnel at Kruzplatten.

At the alp at Pt1933 we turned left. This is where the Swiss hiking maps are no longer useful – the path is not marked on the map. But the path to follow can be seen in the meadow. We headed up the wide ridge centre right in the picture below.

We aimed for Pt2146 followed by Pt2303 and then crossed the ridge at Pt2380. We were then in the bowl with Vorder Grauspitz in the distance.

It was not clear which route to take – so we hiked roughly to the centre of the bowl and then headed steeply uphill, aiming for the mid-point between the 2 Grauspitz mountains in the image above

Once on the ridge, we turned left and and made the final hike along the ridge to the highest point of Liechtenstein.

And then we were at the summit! Wonderful views all around!

We then retraced our steps back to the gondola for a well-earned ice-cream!
