This is a lovely hike in any season, but also possible in deepest winter - maybe it is the most spectacular with deep snow on the ground. It's an easy stroll from the cute village of Sankt Antonien to the tiny hamlet of Partnun. And if you don't want to walk back, take a sledge!

This is a circular hike starting from Sankt Antönien in Graubünden (south-east Switzerland).

Even in deepest winter it is possible to find lovely hikes in the Alps. This particularly beautiful winter walk starts in the charming alpine village of Sankt Antönien and leads to the tiny hamlet of Partnun.

We park the car by the church in Sankt Antönien (built in the 14th century) and are quickly out of the village in the direction of Partnun.

In the winter, the area is very popular with ski-tourers, so don’t be surprised to meet skiers coming down the road!

After around one kilometre of walking, the road is closed to traffic. Continuing on, the path follows the river – beautiful.

Simply continue to follow the river. Further up the distance you will see the impressive vertical walls of the Wiss Platte (2627m). To the right, in the direction as you look, is its neighbour, Schijenflue, one meter lower at 2626m.

After around 2 hours, you will reach the tiny, pretty hamlet of Partnun.

While here, it is possible to eat at one of the few restaurants and even stay overnight for a real alpine experience.

If you have brought a sledge with you then it will be a 30 minute ride back to Sankt Antönien. If not, then it is a one and a half hour stroll back.
