Balderschwang – Girenkopf (1683m) – Heidenkopf (1685m) – Balderschwang

We parked just outside of Balderschwang, walked the short distance to the Hotel Bergblick and then behind the hotel. It was then steep uphill through a mix of woods and meadows – very pretty. After an hour we came to a broad farm track and turned right. A short way along the track we turned left and slowly headed towards the broad ridge with lovely views.

From here we enjoyed views to the left and right – glorious.

After enjoying a break on Girenkopf, we continued towards Heidenkopf. There are some steeper sections here secured with wires, but nothing too difficult.

And then we were on Heidenkopf – beautiful!

We then retraced our steps a little, turned left and headed down back to Balderschwang through green meadows.

It was around 50 minutes back to Balderschwang and time for an ice-cream in the village. To save walking along the main road, we then headed down towards the river, turned right and walked along the river back to the car.

A very lovely hike!
