On a cold, bright winter's day we decided to explore the peninsula south of Lugano in southern Switzerland. A fantastic hike starting in a classical Tessin lakeside village, easy hiking through woods to a 360° over Lake Lugano. Perfect for a winter's day!
This walk offers a relaxed stroll to see the old Rhine flowing into lake Constance, cross into the Rhine delta nature reserve and pass strawberries fields and an apple farm. And of course in the summer, it is well worth taking a break at the beach.
This hike along the Walensee can be done all year round and it passes lovely meadows, cute little wooden houses, chapels and village shops. But wonderfully, it features one of the highest free falling waterfalls in the world. That's right, not just Switzerland or Europe, the whole world! Don't miss this!
This is a lovely hike in any season, but also possible in deepest winter - maybe it is the most spectacular with deep snow on the ground. It's an easy stroll from the cute village of Sankt Antonien to the tiny hamlet of Partnun. And if you don't want to walk back, take a sledge!

This stunning hike starts from Rebstein in the Rhine valley and ends in the town of St Gallen. It passes through beautiful and less well known areas of Appenzellerland. It is a perfect long day hike at almost any time of year - even in winter!

This wonderful hike starts in the spa town of Bad Ragaz and into the impressive Tamina gorge where the source of the 36°C spa water can also be visited. It then climbs steeply out of the gorge over a natural bridge spanning the gorge to the town of Pfäfers and finally down through pretty local vineyards.
A short, but beautiful hike with a visit to the unique ice-holes close to Bolzano. Due to wind rushing down tubular holes in the mountains above, the area around the ice holes is significantly colder than it should be... Well worth a visit!
In total the Rhine valley high path (Höhenweg) runs all the way from Rorschach to Sargans. But it can be easily broken down into smaller easy stages. The stage from Rebstein to Altstätten is one of the prettiest and sunniest.
This a lovely, lovely stroll. Starting in beautiful Ascona it follows the shore of Lago Maggiore to the pretty town of Brissago. Frequent ferries will bring you back to Ascona with the option to stop off on the Isola Brissago.
