This is walk along the slopes of Liechtenstein to Silum is one of those rare hikes that can be done in any season and any weather. It offers stunning views and easy walking. And in spring and summer you will be walking through ever-changing fields of flowers.

Start above Rizlina, where there is parking just off the main road to the left. Walk up the road towards Gada, which winds it’s way up through the meadows. You will be doing all the hard work right at the start, going higher and higher. But the views of the Rhine valley are fantastic, so take your time to look around.

It’s about 200 height meters up the road until you reach a steep rock wall. Here you turn off the road in a sharp left turn. It takes you onto a path that is now easy and level and leads into the woods. Follow it along and enjoy the that you have done all the uphill. Soon you will come back out into the meadows. Take the path on the right and you will walk through flower fields and lovely wooden huts.

Continue along the path until you get to a stone wall, where you turn left. Now you reach the tiny village Silum. There is a cascade of water troughs and on the little hill to your left you will find a bench with a stunning view along the Rhine valley.

In Silum, turn right at the first signpost and follow the path through cow fields until it joins into a gravel road. Stay right and then take the path on the left, which will lead into the woods for a few meters. At a junction before a stone wall, turn left and you will soon reach a small paved road. Follow the road down, taking the right at the next junction. You will have more lovely views of flower fields, huts and the valley below.

After a little while in a slight right bend, turn off the road onto a gravel path. It leads fairly evenly along the slopes and through cows and farmhouses. You will have a lovely view of Naafkopf in the distance, which can still be covered in snow, even in the summer.

For a while, the gravel road leads gently along the slope. When it starts leading downhill, there are a few bends and soon after you will reach the paved road again, that you had walked up at the start. You could now follow this road down, but for this hike, turn right and continue along the gravel road until you reach a water pump house. There is a tiny path through the fields on your left now, which you follow through the fields.
