This is an easy hike past the turquoise blue Jöriseen lakes in the midst of a sparse but impressive mountain landscape. It can be done as a round walk or with a bit more greenery and less height meters as a distance walk. Views of the Silvretta massif and Piz Linard in the distance are a worthwhile reward.

Start the hike at Wägerhus, just below the Flüelapass, where there is a bus stop and also a parking lot. The parking fills up quickly, so be sure to start early. From the Wägerhus, make your way uphill to the Jöriflüelafurgga. It’s a gentle uphill through meadows and scree until you reach the pass.

At the pass you have almost all the height meters done if you choose to continue towards Röven, so you can take the time for a break. It’s well worth it because you have a first view of the beautiful lakes below from here.

Continuing from the pass, the path leads gently downhill through beautiful meadows towards the lakes.

Now the path meanders through the lakes with plenty of options to sit and have a break with incredibly lovely views all around. The largest of the Jöriseen lakes has a milky turquoise color. This is because it is fed by the Jöri glacier, which causes it’s unusual color.

Just before the fourth lake, there is the option to continue straight or turn right. The path on the right leads uphill to Winterlücke from where you can return directly to Wägerhus. However, since 2019 this path was closed due to rock fall and it is unclear, when it will reopen.

For this hike to Röven, continue straight at the junction and make your way up to Jöriflesspass. There are a few more lakes to pass and streams to cross and then you are at the pass. From here follow the stream down towards Alp Fless Dadaint, a beautiful old farmhouse with a stunning little waterfall just behind.

  1. This is one of my favourite hikes, and I’ve done it a few times. The views to the Joriseen are simply amazing when its sunny – Summer or Autumn. You can make it a loop by returning from the Joriseen over the Winterlucke pass. This is a nice route as you pass next to a small glacier. It’s not a difficult path once most of the snow has gone after July. You are pretty high up on this hike, so consider taking warm clothes! You are also out in the wilderness, and will probably not see many people. No refreshments!
