This hike can be started in the valley in the town of Schiers, Graubünden south-east Switzerland. But but this adds another 600 height meters to the hike! So take the ever reliable Swiss PostBus to Stels – it runs every 2 hours.

Once in Stels, the views across to the Rätikon mountain range are immediately stunning!

We headed toward Nigglish Wis (great name!) and then headed across the area called Stelserberg and are quickly at the amazingly located Berghaus zum See.

There is a lake here – the Stelsersee – which is worth a look, but there are more amazing (if smaller) lakes along the ridge leading towards Chruez.

The ridge is sometimes a little steeper, sometimes less steep – but with always fantastic views left and right.

2.5 hours after leaving Stels we reached Chruez. There are 360° views and it is well worth to take some time to eat your lunch up here!

We then headed off in the south-west direction towards Alpbüel. There are now glorious views across the Klosters ski area and the alps to the south. Simply stunning.

As we hiked closer down towards Pany, we passed through beautiful alpine meadows and cute wooden farm buildings.

We arrived in Pany 5 hours after leaving Stels. Time for an ice-cream before taking the Swiss PostBus and Rätikon railways back to Schiers. A wonderful, wonderful hike!
