On a Wednesday evening after work, we decided to take an evening stroll around Seealpsee, in Aplstein, north-east Switzerland. It’s only a 40 minute drive from us, but wow – it’s beautiful.

After leaving the car at Wasserauen and ascending the steep (and boy, its steep) road, after 35 minutes we reach the first classic view of the Alpstein. If you need a break after the steep hill the Forelle and Seealpsee guesthouses are on the left.

… and then shortly after the beautiful Seealpsee – stunning even when clouds are gathering.

It was almost impossible to stop taking pictures as we walked around the lake. Do the Alps get much more wonderful?

We could even buy our next day’s milk from one of the numerous alps around the lake!

As we walked back towards the Kleinhüteen, we glanced up to see the impressive Wildkirchli perched on the rock under Ebenalp.

It’s then steep downhill again – a lovely path with a couple of mini-waterfalls.

And we were back at the car before dark – what a beautiful way to spend an evening!
